Praesidus grew in 2019 out of one specific story: the veteran Tom Rice lost his A-11 watch at sea jumping over Normandy on D-Day, and the house made an almost exact replica of it. Since then it has worked with veterans and with airborne units, the 101st Airborne in particular.
History
The A-11 was the standard US Army field watch of the Second World War — three makers, one specification, no ornament — and it was called "the watch that won the war". Praesidus was founded in 2019 around recreating it exactly, not being inspired by it. Its first model came from the piece Tom Rice, a 101st paratrooper, lost in the landings. The house has kept its ties to veterans and airborne units ever since, and its catalogue turns on that same military archive.
