Carner Barcelona
Founded 2010 · Barcelona, Spain · Sara Carner
Carner Barcelona makes Mediterranean perfumery with a city's name attached: its fragrances portray Barcelona and its coast, and its catalogue works fig, leather and salt with a lightness very rare in niche.
History
Sara Carner, from a Barcelona family in the leather trade, founded the house in 2010 with the idea of making author perfumery from the Mediterranean rather than from Paris. She works with French perfumers — Sonia Constant, Daniela Andrier, Shyamala Maisondieu — and every reference is anchored in some aspect of the city or its surroundings. Tardes, D600 and Cuirs are its best-known names, and the whole has a clear identity: luminous, dry, without the density of northern niche.
Iconic models
Tardes
Fig, almond and musk; the house's best seller and most recognisable.
D600
Citrus and leather, after the Catalan coast road.
Palo Santo
Palo santo wood and cocoa; the warmest in the catalogue.
Worth knowing
The founder's family came from Barcelona leather, and the material appears in the catalogue with a naturalness that houses using it as a quotation never manage.
