BDK Parfums

Founded 2016 · Paris, France · David Benedek

BDK Parfums is a young Parisian house that made its name quickly with Gris Charnel and Rouge Smoking, and works recognisable ground: clean compositions, good raw material and prices below top-end niche.

History

David Benedek founded the house in Paris in 2016, with the catalogue split into two collections — Collection Parisienne and Matières — and with guest perfumers such as Alexandra Carlin and Nathalie Lorson. Its tone is contemporary and a long way from niche baroque: Gris Charnel, from 2019, with tonka bean, black tea and fig, became a word-of-mouth success and is still the name the house is known by. Rouge Smoking, a gourmand of cherry and almond, did the same on sweet ground.

Iconic models

  • Gris Charnel (2019)

Tonka bean, black tea and fig. The one that made the house known, and by far its best seller.

  • Rouge Smoking

Cherry and almond; a gourmand that never cloys.

  • Pas Ce Soir

A spiced floral, from the Collection Parisienne.

Worth knowing

Gris Charnel grew large without a campaign: it was a recommendation that passed from enthusiast to enthusiast until it sold out several times over.
